DLCGA:

The Association was founded in 1911 by a few golf clubs who thought it would help to form a county golf association to act as a central authority for determining questions which may arise – and to promote the welfare and interests of the ladies’ amateur game in Dorset.  This remains as true today as it did then, with the main objective being the promotion of the amateur game and the maintenance of the traditions and rules of the game, as defined by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club. This does not cover everything the County Association does, but we hope it helps you understand that we are here for club golfers at all levels

HANDICAPS: The County Handicap Advisor is responsible for advising clubs on administering the CONGU handicap scheme.

COURSE RATING: The DLCGA has a dedicated and trained rating team to maintain course standard scratch scores in line with the USGA course rating system.

THE COUNTY WEB SITE www.dorsetladiesgolf.org: The website contains information to keep all golfers informed of what is happening around the County.

COACHING AND JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT: Golf coaching is central to developing, sustaining and increasing participation in the sport.  Coaching also improves performances, which result in greater success.

CHAMPIONSHIPS AND TOURNAMENTS: The Association runs the County Championships and other County meetings, as well as the Interclub Cup, Humphrey’s Bowl and Parkin Cup.

COUNTY REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVE: Liaises with England Golf on SW tournaments and matters arising in the South West region.

COUNTY TEAMS: the County 1st and 2nd teams, juniors veterans and Seniors compete against teams from Cornwall, Somerset, Devon, Wiltshire, Hampshire and Gloucestershire.

GOLF DEVELOPMENT: the DLCGA, DCGU and Professionals have set up the Dorset County Golf Partnership (DCGP), which aims to access various external funding sources in order to increase participation in playing golf within the County.
