SENIORS CAPTAIN’S REPORT Presented at the County AGM
In the absence of the Seniors Captain Pat Wyatt, the Hon. Secretary read the following report.
This year we had the pleasure of playing at St.Enedoc Golf Club over three days where the weather was warm, albeit not sunny, but with no wind, which we are told is unheard of in that part of the world. We managed to field 7 players, Carole Brown, Dee Wood, Anne Humphreys, Sue Crabb, Hanni Davidson, Lorraine Richardson, and Pat Wyatt led by the non playing Captain Pam Flay who also doubled as starter. Unfortunately Carole could only play the first 18 holes but Dee Wood replaced her on the second day and save for that we all had to play every round. 36 holes round that course is fairly tiring if not testing!
We did manage to win a prize – the Wooden Spoon – We drew against Cornwall and Devon but lost to Gloucester, Somerset and Wiltshire. The winners this year were Somerset. However the event as always brought together old friends, golf played in good spirits and some great memories.
Next year the event is being held at Salisbury and South Wilts on the 4th - 6th October 2010 and hopefully we can manage to move up the scoreboard and pass the wooden spoon on to some other worthy recipient.
