COUNTY REPRESENTATIVE EWGA SW REGIONAL COMMITTEE REPORT
Presented at the County AGM

Mrs J.Wilson gave the following report.

MEDALS.This is the first year of the EWGA medals and this will be reviewed at the end of 2009. I have circulated a small questionnaire to County Delegates about how the medals are going so far, I appreciate that all information will not be available at present especially the overall club winner but which handicap ranges are winning on a monthly basis would be a useful feeler as to what is happening. At present I have only received 8 replies so if you are a County Delegate or Captain would you please ensure that this is returned to me by this weekend, as I have a SW meeting on Monday where this topic is to be discussed.
EWGA are still looking at introducing a best gross from Medals going forward to a final from 2010.
Wiltshire will be hosting the Medal Finals in 2010 at Chippenham Golf Club on 30th May 2010.
Cornwall will be hosting the EWGA Medal Finals in 2011.
HANDICAPS - The Active /Inactive start this coming year from 1st January 2010  but I am sure that Ann Talbot will update you fully in her report.
DMD’s  - EWGA are sticking with the R&A in not permitting Distance measuring devices. Clubs and Counties can make local rules for their own competitions but all are reminded that they cannot be used in Club EWGA Medals or EWGA Championships events regardless of any local rule in place. This will be reviewed at the end of 2009.
EWGA RULES SEMINAR - There have been approximately 85 applications to date. The questionnaire will be sent out as soon as it is available and should be returned to the EWGA Office for marking. Around 30 delegates will attend each Seminar and will be spread around each county. EWGA will not be reimbursing travelling expenses to delegates. Seminars will need to take place each year to enable EWGA to build an Observer/Referee List.
MERGER WITH EGU - talks are on going and a discussion document will soon be tabled.
EWGA AGM – I have circulated to all delegates the AGM Resolutions and proposed Changes to the Memorandum & Articles of Associationþ for Ladies committees to discuss.
AUSTRALIAN SPOONS - It was Dorset turn to host the Regional Final Australian Spoons this year and we held it at Ashley Wood Golf club, it was a very successful day with a pair from Burnham & Berrow going forward to the Final at Pleasington GC. VOLVO are going to sponsor this event next year.
ELGA TRUST AM/AM had to be cancelled through lack of support
Donations from Clubs have drastically reduced so if your ladies sections are not running an ELGA Trust Stableford would you please try and raise the profile of this competition so that more funds are available for the trust so that they can continue with their excellent work in supporting Girls golf.
We also received from EWGA raffle tickets to sale on behalf of the ELGA Trust and in July these were distributed to Club delegates. These are to be back with EWGA early November (postal strike permitting) so please if you haven’t given them to me today please would you get the stubs and monies taken back to me as soon as possible.
