        ERNEST WAREHAM TROPHY

The Ernest Wareham Trophy was played on Friday 31st August at Knighton Heath Golf Club.   The format is a mixed greensome made up of one junior girl and one junior boy.  This year the winners were 17yr old Mel Buxton (8 handicap) together with 18 year old Adan Hayward (9 handicap), who between them scored a very good gross 73.  Ten pairs took part and all enjoyed a fine day at Knighton Heath.  Thanks to the golf club, and all the parents who transported and supported.

Hole in One – Twice

Mel Buxton, 17 year old Junior member at Canford Magna Golf Club scores 2 Aces in the same week on two different courses.

On Wednesday 1st August while playing in a Junior Open and Daily Telegraph qualifier at Liphook Golf Club, Surrey Mel aced the 7th hole, a 119 yards, par 3, with her 8 iron. She then went on to win the morning competition with the lowest gross score for girls.

On Saturday 4th August while playing in another Junior Open and Daily Telegraph qualifier at Lyme Regis Golf Club Mel aced the 13th hole, a 166 yards par 3 with her 4 iron. The excitement went a little to her head and was unable to win on this occasion.

Mel who has played at Canford Magna Golf Course since taking up the game 8 years ago when she was a member of Canford Kids now plays for both Dorset Junior Girls and the 2nd Dorset Ladies Team. Mel who is the Junior vice Captain is now playing off an 8 handicap after this incredible week which included her 17th birthday.

Mel left Corfe Hills School in 2006 after doing her GCSE’s and has just spent a year at the Bournemouth & Poole College doing a Skills Track course and in September will be going to Brockenhurst College to study an Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (GOLF) and hopes to be able to take up golf as a profession in the future.

Mel makes it 3 in 12 days!
I know you might not believe this
but today Martin Cummings and Pip Duncan and myself
witnessed Mels 3rd Hole in One in 12 days at
Sherbourne Golf club in a Dorset Ladies practice day.
It was at the 15th 131yard par 3 where Mel took a 7 iron and
hit it stright at the pin where it duly, like on cue, hit the green
and rolled in to the hole.

 How amazing is this?????

Juniors2007

The Dorset Junior team of Hayley Davis, Melissa McMahon, Lucy Walters, Danielle Bradley, Sophie Keach.  Alice and Francesca Young had a very enjoyable two days playing at Launceston Golf Club in Cornwall.
With three singles match play games on the hill course, all the girls will be tired but happy, by the end.

Hayley Davis playing number 1, had to play 3 handicappers and managed 1 win, and 2 halves.  Melissa playing 2, had the best results with 3 wins.

Lucy, Danni, Sophie, Francesca and Alice all had excellent results always playing girls off much lower handicaps.  They did the county proud with their team spirit and their face painted 'DORSET' on their foreheads.

Well done girls.

     They came back with sunburn!

Jordan had 163 gross over two rounds to qualify 16th.
She started off her 1st round very well with an albatross on the 1st hole, a par 5!
In the match play Jordan had to play no 1 qualifier, Charlotte Ellis. She put
