2011 will mark the Centenary of the DLCGA and will be a time of celebration for the achievements of our first 100 years. A Centenary committee has been established to guide the planning and preparations for what should be a momentous and joyous year for us all. We are sure that the events planned will give many memories for each of us to take forward to the next 100 years.
Centenary Book
The Association would like to produce a permanent record of the first 100 years in the form of a Centenary Book. This will celebrate the achievements and exploits of Dorset Clubs and their members. In September 2007 letters, posters and questionnaires were sent to Lady Captains and Vice Captains of each Club to seek their assistance in bringing together the information needed. As members of the Association you may also be able to help.
Specifically we are seeking both factual and anecdotal material relating to the Clubs and members of the Association. If you have any memorabilia that might be of interest please let us know so that we can arrange for it to be photographed / copied for inclusion. We realise that this material will be precious and assure you that anything provided will be cared for and returned as promptly as possible.
As a first stage in the process of the collection and collation of material we have asked that information should be sent to us by 31 January 2008.
Contact Details for Jackie Wilson and Liz Lloyd may be found on the yellow County Card. Alternatively, contact us via the Website.
Events during 2011 will include :
Competitions Firstly, a Club competition with the top two pairs from each Club to be invited to Finals Day. Secondly a Champion of Champions Event 18 and 9 hole competitions followed by an Edwardian tea.
Centenary Lunch with a guest speaker.
Merchandise small items to commemorate the year.
Flag a new design to reflect our first 100 years.
A number of these events will require funding. To this end we are holding a Centenary Fund Raiser Competition in 2008 and we ask that you support us, have fun and win excellent prizes!
