It was 3 all, and the last live match (match 4)  finished at the 18th  all square,  so sudden death as they played on down the first extra hole. From the first tee we all saw the group hug on the green but saw no indication of which team had won. We all waited and watched in mounting anticipation as the group walked quietly back, but not until they were almost at the clubhouse did we see a thumbs-up from Bridport to signal their victory against the defending champions Parkstone. A perfect final, with Bridport winning the trophy for the first time ever, and the match going right down to the last putt on the extra hole, so very many congratulations to both teams and their caddies for giving their best on a lovely day which culminated in an excellent carvery dinner and pudding, much enjoyed by everyone.

Very sincere thanks go to the Management and staff at Yeovil Golf Club, for their courtesy, their most excellent service and staff, and the warmth of their welcome to all of us on the day. To their Ladies Captain, Josie Clements, also, for the pleasure of her company, and to the unseen greenstaff, who produced such a splendid course for everyone to enjoy. Warmest thanks as always go to our most loyal and generous Sponsor, Beales plc, with both Mr Nigel Beale, The President, and Mr Paul Masterson, the Marketing Director, in attendance for the presentations of trophies, together with Mr. Ed Richardson the General Manager of Broadstone Golf Club, who will be taking over the administration of the tournament after the conclusion of this season. Mr. Beale and Mr. Richardson made the Tournament draw for 2021-22, and  lovely goodie bags of gifts from Beales for all the ladies were distributed.

I confirmed my retirement as Tournament Organiser, and became the delighted recipient of a beautiful gift of Chanel from Mr. Beale, plus champagne and gorgeous flowers from Mr Richardson on behalf of all Beales Ladies. The day became a very happy party with everyone going home tired, but smiling and content.

To all of you, I send my thanks and congratulations, whether as a Beales Captain or a team player. I thank you for all your work and support in bringing this 36th tournament through to its conclusion, and hope you have enjoyed happy days in your matches.

I will be writing again soon to confirm the handover  to Broadstone, and meantime, I send my best wishes to you and all your Lady members, for the coming closed season of  Christmas and New Year and for a successful and happy golfing season in 2020.
