Captain's Reports 2023

Ashley Wood Men

The 2nd team have started the season with success, winning the friendly against Ashley Wood men with a convincing 2 1/2 to 1/2. The game was played with great team spirit and was valuable to show pairing for our matches.

Our first match is home at Yeovil on 25th June against Gloucestershire, which is always tough competition and we look forward to the challenge.

Then we are away to Wiltshire on 23rd July, at The Wiltshire

Gloucestershire

The 2nd team have started the SW matches in fabulous form beating
at home 5-4. The team were at Yeovil GC on Sunday 25th June for
foursomes in the morning and singles in the afternoon.
This is always a tough match, it was played with great team spirit and support,
superb result, well done team.
Thank you to Yeovil Golf club and in particular Ros Williams for all your support.
Our next match is away against Wiltshire on 23rd July where we will be looking to
repeat our success.
The 2nd team squad is as follows:
Louise Pettitt Ferndown - Team Manager. Rebecca Martin -Broadstone. Caroline Beaumont - Sherborne. Megan Withnall - Ferndown.

Scarlett Philips - Ferndown. Sianell White - Knighton Heath. Tries Rideout - Yeovil. Kim McKinley - Yeovil. Jacqui Bowden -Remedy
Emma Hardy - Broadstone

Our 2nd SW match this season was away to Wiltshire at the Wiltshire Golf Club.

Well I can only say the rain and wind was more like an April day than a Saturday at the end of July, typical British Summer!

The team donned their  waterproofs and off we went, a tight set of foursomes matches as the team accustomised themselves with very thick wet semi, strong winds and lashing rain and we found ourselves 2-1 down at lunch. All to play for in the afternoon.

The team partially dried out and off we went for our singles, again with very close matches, having watched a match won on 18 it was 4 all in the clubhouse with one match still playing. The team played some fantastic golf in very tough condition which we eventually lost 5-4.

However most of the squad this year are new to the team and each other and have demonstrated great team spirit and support throughout the season enabling us to beat Ashleywood men in a friendly. Prevail over Gloucestershire at home and a very close game against Wiltshire away.

I look forward to building further on the teams great efforts next season
